Weekend at Grandma's
The boys went to their dad's this weekend so I took advantage of the time and spent some much needed bonding time with my grandmother, aunt Sandy, aunt Cathy and Bill. Grandma recently broke her back and is recuperating at home. She wasn't very active, but I think she enjoyed watching us make buttons and just being with each other. I learned how to make Scrapple, an old family recipe. I didn't get it quite the right consistency, but the flavor was excellent. I made an apple pie in a pie plate that my grandmother had painted for my mom. It turned out fantastic. Aunt Sandy taught me how to make buttons for a board game that we love to play when we are all together. We sanded glass and glued it. I loved the smell of the glue. We popped open a bottle of wine and I decided to spend the night. I haven't had that much family fun for awhile. The strawberry buttons were my favorite and aunt Sandy let me keep them. Thank you so much for a great weekend. I love you all! Some of the pics are blurry, but you get the just of them. We made so many sets of buttons, but I didnt get pics of all of them.
